Identifying High-Risk Individuals and Businesses
An application designed to enhance name and media screening processes
Overview
To enhance name and media screening processes and mitigate potential risks, front-office and compliance teams are in need of a sophisticated solution. This solution should have the capability to accurately detect high-risk individuals and entities and deliver instant alerts. By replacing obsolete systems, this solution will enhance operational efficiency, expedite decision-making, and fortify compliance management.
Discovery & Research Phase
To enhance the new tool's effectiveness, we engaged with product team & stakeholders to understand the need and user journey across various divisions. This allowed us to gain a comprehensive understanding of their pain points, workflows, and expectations. We then collaborated with the product team to brainstorm solutions and generate a prioritized list of features that would directly address these needs. Upon joining the project, we discovered that the development team had already made substantial progress. The landing page, along with other essential components, were already in place. However, further refinement was needed to ensure a seamless and intuitive user experience.

Insights
Design Audit
At this stage, to guarantee that the tool is both efficient and easy to use, we performed a comprehensive design audit. This involved conducting a heuristic evaluation to evaluate its compliance with design principles and best practices in user experience (UX).
General Usability
The assessment looks at general usability (i.e. not taking into account any user or business-specific requirements), using “rule of thumb” heuristics. Due to limited access to the tool the general usability assessment was made light touch to get the baseline for further analysis.
Workflow Mapping
During this period, we leveraged the insights gained from our preliminary research to create a streamlined and thorough diagram outlining the entire RPM process. This encompassed essential workflows, identified pain points, and detailed decision-making stages within the process.
Usability Enhancements from Product Review
Following our design audit and general usability evaluation, we compiled a list of enhancement recommendations. Subsequently, we held a workshop to collaboratively review and prioritize these usability improvements derived from the product assessment. During this initial prioritization process, we evaluated each task by balancing the required effort against its potential impact on end users, utilizing post-it notes and an “Impact vs Effort” matrix.
After conducting the Impact vs Effort workshop, we categorized the enhancements into four distinct groups. This classification allowed us to effectively prioritize our efforts based on the anticipated user impact and the resources required for implementation. The four categories are
